BIO: Mauro Staiano received his BA in English with a teaching emphasis in 1995 and his MA in Teaching Writing in 2007, both from HSU. He began his teaching career in the Czech Republic where he taught English at the Czech Technical University’s School of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering and Charles University’s School of Law. Aside from a one-year stint at Winship Middle School in '04-'05, he has been teaching at Eureka High School since completing HSU’s credential program in 1998.
He currently shares department chair duties and teaches Senior AP English Literature and Composition (Dual Enrolled with CR's ENGL C1000) and Freshman English.
He believes strongly that school should be a safe space for all students and has been the adviser for EHS’s Gender & Sexuality Alliance, the YEAH! Club, for many years.
