A range of techniques was used to introduced plants into the newly prepared prairie and aquatic habitats. Larger trees and shrubs were planted in very specifically designated locations, while smaller plant plugs were area planted in large quantities. Seed mixes were introduced both by hand and by a process called hydroseeding - essentially mixing the seeds in a slurry of water retaining material and spraying it over the terrain. Most of the aquatic plant species were individually planted. A netting strategy was installed over the new plantings in an attempt to protect young plants from hungry consumers - primarily geese.
