About
Karine Lamiraud is a Professor of Health Economics, holder of the Chair of Innovation and Health, and Academic Co-Director of the MS SMIS (Stratégie et Management des Industries de Santé) at ESSEC Business School. She graduated from the HEC Paris Grande École program and holds a PhD from the Paris School of Economics and the University of Lausanne. Prior to joining ESSEC, she served as an Assistant Professor of Health Economics at the University of Lausanne for over four years, following industry experience as an economist with GlaxoSmithKline and as a product manager with Eli Lilly.
At ESSEC, Professor Lamiraud served as Associate Dean of Faculty from 2015 to 2022. Her research covers a broad range of topics in health economics, including the evaluation of health care strategies, competition in health insurance markets, payment models for physicians and hospitals, health technology adoption, and patient decision-making (such as primary care choice, treatment adherence, and healthcare utilization). She currently serves as an Associate Editor of Health Economics and co-organizes the Asian Workshop on Econometrics and Health Economics.
