Library Policy
The Library Media Center/Discovery Center is provided for students to obtain reference/research materials and to check out books for pleasure reading. It is a quiet area where students will be able to work without being disturbed.
Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 3:40 P.M. daily
Checkout
Students may have up to three (3) library books checked out at a time.
Books are checked out for a period of three (3) weeks.
A date due sticker is affixed to the cover of each book to remind students when to return the book to the library.
Ebook Checkout
Ebooks may be checked out one at a time for a period of 3 weeks. There is no renew feature, but the ebook may be checked out again if necessary. When the 3-week checkout period expires, the book becomes unavailable to read and automatically checks in. (there are no fines on ebooks) Students may place holds on ebooks but have a limit of 1 hold placed at a time. When an ebook becomes available the hold will remain active for a period of 5 days. If the book is not checked out within that 5-day period, the hold will expire.
Follett ebooks can be downloaded to Android and iOS tablets and to the computer, but not to smart phones, Kindles, or Nooks. Look for a link on our library web page called "There's an app for that" to find the appropriate app for your device. All ebooks can be read online on any internet-connected device. We would recommend that you download the Follett Digital Reader app to your device so that you are set up to download ebooks.
You will find additional help with our ebooks on the library web page under the tab "How do I?"
Fines and lost books
There are no fines for overdue books. There are only fines for books damaged beyond repair.
Overdue notices are printed once a week and distributed to students by reading teachers.
Fines for damage from carelessness, liquids, pens/pencils/markers, etc. are charged on an individual basis. If the damage to the book results in having to replace the book, a replacement cost will be charged.
If a lost book is found and returned to the library in good condition within 60 days of the due date, the lost book payment will be refunded. If a book remains lost for more than 60 days or is lost prior to summer vacation, no refund will be given for lost book payment. It is assumed within that time the library will have purchased a replacement copy.
Printing
All items printed from the library printer must be school related.
Students are required to show the library staff all items printed from the library printer.
Students may print two (2) pages free of charge each day. Additional copies are $.10 per page. Exceptions will be made for teacher assigned projects.
Library Computer Use
Students must use library computers for school related work. The use of library computers for gaming or Internet searches of a personal nature is prohibited. Patrons found in violation of this policy will be prohibited from using library computers.
