Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Updated design of the spool and motor way of actuation
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Purchased the motor and waiting for arrival
Created more complete CAD designs
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Decide on a few set designs that we can start prototyping
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
To-scale concept of spool and motor w/ enclosure is viable, reduce length by taking off one motor and optimize torque through spool diameter
Rack and pinion concept can go ahead and prototype
No implanted microcontrollers or electronics for now - leave that outside rabbit, just have mechanical stuff inside
Packaging of implanted device should be able to withstand loads from the muscles around the area of implantation
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
We ruled out piezo motors because they are too expensive ($2000) and none were fitting out size constraint (Dr. Delson 12/16 Email)
We got the exact dimensions of our workspace from the sponsor (Dr. Delson 12/16 Email)
Calculated required torque generated from a motor to perform task and identified a capable motor for the task (Dr. Delson 12/16 Email)
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Risks and Areas of Concern
Manufacturability of tiny parts may be difficult.
Packaging of components will be challenging, must verify parts will not break under anticipated loads
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Schedule
Describe upcoming milestone
Update Gantt chart
in coming week, develop CAD further, checking along the way for compatibility with size constraint and manufacturability
conduct physical property testing of 6mm diameter motor
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Amount spent: $12
Amount remaining: $1488
