Monday 4/13 Meeting with Pedro, Discussion of Slideshow:
Problem Definition: (Laura)
-add slide at beginning addressing ALL problems to be solved.
-add animations showing which picture goes with which text.
-mention that the scaffold and the pole cannot be altered.
-mention box and scaffold assembly support can change.
-mention that the casters will be reused.
Functional Requirements: (Laura)
-explain why tie down hooks are a functional requirement.
-assume people will forget what a "scaffold" is.
-refer to "scaffold assembly" NOT "pole support"
-add gusset to option 1
Materials: (Daniel)
-carbon fiber slide too wordy
-explain why carbon fiber was omitted. Make is OBVIOUS. explain what type of carbon fiber.
-show same load case for every material.
-dont use sentences, use bullet points.
-remind us what the weight limit is, dont say "10% above weight limit"
-there should be FEA of AL in the materials section just like their is for every other material.
-add slide explaining why AL was chosen.
-mention the materials comparison table is a materials comparison table.
-mention how the casters will be re-attached to the ATC body.
-mention that coated surface (zinc coating? ) will be used to attach casters to aluminum body to prevent galvanic corrosion.
FEA on AL box: (Andrew)
-mention (on slides) that all analysis is on ALUMINUM, but for different load cases.
-be clear how much load force is on each arrow in each image.
-rewrite the sentence that said:"hydrostatic pressure when water is 1 ft from the bottom of the box" to be clearer.
Hooks (Chris)
-mention that the steel hooks are attached to anodized (or other coating) aluminum plates.
-mention the surface treating of the aluminum plate is there to prevent galvanic corrosion.
-mention that the bolt's are connected to the coated plates with a bolt and thru hole (as opposed to threading)
-mention that the coated aluminum plates are welded to the aluminum body of the ATC.
-make a compare and contrast table of the different hook types. Why is the chosen hook the best hook?
Steel Beam Support (Jonathan)
-This section should be moved before the hooks, because it transitions well from the FEA section.
-use consistent units in all images, text, tables. metric preferred.
-include picture describing how the new body of the ATC is shorter than 132 inches, even with the box beams.
-rather than saying "preliminary thickness", say something more clear, like "space limitations"
-make the image of welding options clear to people who dont understand welding options.
Final Design Image and Questions to be Answered (Laura or Jonathan?)
-rephrase "inside thin plates" in image
-mention manufacturing times in "remaining questions to be answered"
-try to get a rough time estimate from Tom Chalfont.
-mention sending design in to get manufacturing times as next step.
Design Recommendations from Pedro:
-the lip on the long edges might be pointless.
-when speaking with manufacturers, ask for liquid penetration tests.
