Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
First prototype of housing case has been fabricated
Heater mated with control system and initial testing begun
Determined that thermocouple is already accurate, and calibration might not be needed but further testing will need to be done
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Testing the electronic components
Thermocouple and amplifier set up and tested
Heater works with 12V motor shield hooked up to arduino
Thermal camera indicates very even heating
Cut out the acrylic pieces for the prototype of housing
Initial coding of arduino was a success, heater and arduino work well together but we will still need the motor controller to come in before more testing can be done
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Testing the PID control and do the calibration for the heater. (Chung)
Have a final design for the housing (Seonghan & Roh)
Polish report and ready it for second draft(Leu)
Perform testing of delrin insulator and determine if it is a viable option (Jimmy)
determine clamping mechanism, will try clamping system to hold slide to heater (Jimmy)
Finalize lid design (Seonghan)

Risks and Areas of Concern
Delrin from machine shop cannot be cut out using laser cam because the edges are melting during the process, new delrin to be purchased for final prototype, but current material is being machined for immediate use
Teflon is still an option for the insulator, but the high cost will restrict us in our prototyping. We may have to order teflon for the final design
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Need information of where to buy lasercammable delrin since the delrin we bought melted in the lasercamm. We have e-mailed Chris Cassidy but will speak to him again this week
Schedule
Initial prototype assembled this weekend.
Delrin insulator piece will finish being machined this friday
Code will be finalized by this weekend
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Total spent = $1,350.63, $649.37 remaining
Progress on Report and Webpage
Report has been properly formatted, editing with regards to instructor's comments is in progress
