Q: Does anyone know of any specific scholarship/funding programs for international students outside of Edmonds College Foundation?

Q: Are there any activities on campus or through Edmonds that may be a good way for students to feel more connected to their school? 

A: List of campus clubs link, join programs such as MESA and RiSE, attend workshops and events, utilize common spaces where you can meet other like-minded students (STEM Study Room, MESA Student Center)

Q: Suggestions on how someone can manage the everyday stress of school and life? 

A: Exercising or engaging in movement, journaling, meditating, or doing yoga, spending quality time with friends and/or family, creative things such as food, art, music, or crafts, spending time in nature: walking, riding, swimming or even just sitting. Remember to prioritize your self-care, listen to your mind and body!


Q: How do students apply for STEM tutoring? What are the deadlines?

A: The best time to apply to be a STEM tutor is at the end of Spring quarter. You can always email the STEM Study room to check if they are hiring. Deadlines may vary.


Q: When a mentee seems to be growing out of the need for a mentor--how to either maintain the relationship, or thoughtfully guide them out of it? 

A: If a mentee has been apart of the Peer Mentor Program but no longer needs the extra support or their circumstances have changed, the first step is to have a conversation with their mentor. Usually, this comes up naturally as the mentee and mentor discusses their progress and goals. Next, the mentor will let the RiSE Director know. In most cases, the mentee gracefully withdraws from the program. 


Q: What is the recommended method of interaction with professors for students when there is a death in the family or something similar?

A: If a student needs to miss class(es) due to a family or other personal emergency....if there is any issues with Professors you can fill out a meet with Dean form


Q: What resources can students utilize for college transfer statements? 

A: Personal Statement Workshop, Learning Support Center (MUK 113)


Q: What should a student do if they have taken a class multiple times, however their scores do not seem to be improving?

A: If you have a need for an accommodation you can go to SSD (Services for Students with Disabilities) and discuss your needs, discuss with your professor other options. https://www.edmonds.edu/student-services/services-for-students-with-disabilities/default.html 


Q: May DACA approved, DACA eligible, HB 1079/WASFA eligible, undocumented, asylum, and refugee students apply for MESA? 

A: Yes, DACA approved, DACA eligible, HB 1079/WASFA eligible, undocumented, asylum, and refugee students are encouraged to apply for MESA. We do not ask for social security numbers.  


Q: Are Nursing or International Students eligible for MESA? 

A: Many supports are established to ensure the success of nursing and international students here at Edmonds College! MESA applicants intend to pursue Calculus-based majors. Nursing students are encouraged to connect with the STEM Study Room, Learning Center, Diversity/Equity/Inclusion, and TRIO Student Services.


International students are encouraged to utilize academic resources, such as: STEM Study Room, Learning Center, Diversity/Equity/Inclusion, Foundation Scholarships. Student Groups include: International Conversation, International Leaders, and other Student Clubs. For International Student questions, the Office of International Programs is available to assist.

A: Many supports are established to ensure the success of nursing and international students here at Edmonds College! MESA applicants intend to pursue Calculus-based majors. Nursing students are encouraged to connect with the STEM Study Room, Learning Center, Diversity/Equity/Inclusion, and TRIO Student Services


Q: What happens after I apply to MESA? 

A: You will be notified about the status of your application within two weeks of submission. If you have not received an email about the status of your application, please email the MESA Director at mesa@edmonds.edu. There are occasions in which the application is not received or when the MESA Director is off campus for a period of time, delaying the response.
