Things to Know About Kindergarten
Kindergarten is an exciting year filled with fun and learning. Here are a few things you might find helpful:
Please be sure to have your child wear the name tag every day for the first month of school. The bus pass should be attached to your child's backpack.
We suggest keeping a consistent dismissal procedure for your child, however we understand that emergencies happen and sometimes changes must be made. If you require a change to your child's dismissal, please send a note to school with your child or call the main office.
Label everything including lunch box, backpack, coats, etc.
Accidents happen...please pack a complete change of clothes for your child in a ziplock bag (labeled with your child’s name).
We play outside everyday (weather permitting even in the winter). Sneakers are best for school.
We do not have a water fountain in our classroom. Please send in a refillable water bottle. We have a filtered water fountain by the main office.
Kindergarteners work hard and play hard which makes them very hungry:) Please send in a healthy snack for your child each day. It is helpful if you pack lunch/snack separately (this makes it easier to see who needs to buy lunch).
The classroom can be quite warm especially in the beginning of the year. It is best to dress in layers (again, be sure to label sweatshirts).
Please check your child’s folder on a daily basis and empty it out on Fridays.
Please join Class Dojo (see directions on the Dojo Invitation) Throughout the year, I will send reminders as well as photos of the children-it is a great way to communicate and gives you a glimpse into our daily activities and fun projects.
Homework will be sent home as a packet on Mondays. We recommend that you do a page each night and practice sight words daily. Reading to/with your child is the BEST thing you can do to help your child succeed in school.
