COURSE OUTLINE

Materials to Bring to Class

Students are expected to bring these materials & supplies to class daily. There will be limited access to lockers once the bell rings.

  • ELA binder
  • Their independent reading book
  • The current novel or material being read in English class
  • Chromebook
  • Pens/pencils and other standard supplies to be used during class
  • Writers Notebook

Grading: All grades can be accessed at any time on the parent portal. Grades will not be posted until all grading of the assignment is done for each class. Please wait for the assignment to be returned before asking about a grade seen on the portal.

80%: Tests/Quizzes, projects & written assignments

15%: Homework/Classwork

5%: Participation & Preparedness

Homework:

  • All homework assignments will be checked for completion & comprehension, but only some of the assignments will be graded. It is the student's responsibility to write down their homework in their Agenda Book daily. Homework will also be posted on Google Classroom.

CLASSWORK:

1. Participation in class discussions is very important in this class.

2. Maintain an organized notebook.

3. Hand your work in on time.

ATTENDANCE:

1. All work missed due to absences must be made up.

2. Lateness: You are responsible for being on time to class. You should be seated

and ready to begin working when the bell rings.

METHODS TO IMPROVE GRADES:

1. Create flashcards to review vocabulary terms.

2. Complete all assignments.

3. Study homework and quizzes before a chapter test.

4. Review Discovery Learning clips on various topics.

GENERAL INFORMATION:


2. Extra help opportunities will be provided according to your schedule and mine.

3. Remember this is your class, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.

4. Make sure you don’t wait until the end of the quarter to be concerned about your

grade. Your effort should be consistent throughout the quarter.
