Physical Education Dress Code Requirements for James H. Boyd

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the James H. Boyd Physical Education program. The Physical education staff at James H. Boyd is very excited to have another fun filled educational year. Your children and their safety are very important to us. We would like to remind you of the dress requirements for Physical Education.

In order to participate in Physical Education your child needs to wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. Many shoes may look like sneakers, but are not. Please look for the following features when purchasing sneakers for your child:

Need:

· Laces that tie or Velcro

· A closed toe and closed heel area

· A supportive sneaker and good grip soles

Avoid:

· High heel sneakers

· Platform sneakers

· Heelys (the wheels must be covered)

· Sneakers that have smooth bottoms which are very slippery

· Slip-ons (they do come off when students are doing activity

Proper fitting footwear is required for the ability to participate in class. Participation and skill performance is a significant portion of their grade. If students are unable to participate they are unable to practice their skills. Student’s safety is our primary concern.

* Students with improper fitting footwear are more susceptible to injury to themselves and others.

Thank you,

Frank Schiraldi
