Meet Mrs. Quiano
Hello! My name is Rina Quijano. This year begins my thirty-third in Education. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies at Cal Poly State University San Luis Obispo. I continued my education at Cal Poly and earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Guidance. I have a K-6 Elementary Teaching credential as well as a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. I took additional courses to earn my CLAD credential. I worked as a junior high counselor in Hawaii before returning to California where I began my teaching career at Katherine R. Smith School in Evergreen. I worked at Katherine R. Smith Elementary for eight years then transferred to James F. Smith in 2001. I have been here ever since. I have taught first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. We keep teaching in the family - my husband teaches Advanced Placement U.S. Government and Politics and Psychology at Milpitas High School. We have one daughter who is a JFS alumni and is now a junior in high school this year. I consider it an honor to be your child's first grade teacher and am certain that by working together we will make this a fun and productive year for your child.
