Our Mission

The mission of Association for Education Fairness (AFEF) is to ensure transparency, integrity, and consistency in the selection process for MCPS choice programs and other forms of enriched and accelerated instruction. We advocate for a research-based selection process that accurately identifies highly able students who have additional academic and socioemotional needs which cannot be met by the regular MCPS curriculum and classroom composition. We are focused on ensuring that racial bias does not infect the selection process in any way and that the instructional needs of all highly able students are met, regardless of race. We also are interested in supporting Asian Americans’ involvement in the implementation, development, and monitoring of MCPS’s educational rules and policies as well as the decision-making process at all levels of teaching, administration, and government.
