It can be helpful to talk to someone in the community who is already in the career that you are interested in. They can provide helpful advice on how to get started in the career and which training programs are the best. Ask if you can shadow them for a day and see what their job is like. They might even help you get a job in the career.
Questions to consider:
- Who can I interview who is already in this career?
- What advice do they have about starting in my desired career?
- Which training programs do they recommend?
How to Find an Expert
- Stop by the Jefferson Community Center near the cafeteria and ask Ms. Wenning or Mr. Newton for a local person in your desired career
- Ask your friends and family if they know someone in your desired career
