Callout script for parents of graduating students:

FAFSA is a free application for federal financial aid for your child’s college and career courses. Also, most colleges require that students have a FAFSA on file before they may qualify for any financial aid or other scholarships at the college. So it is important that every graduating senior completes the FAFSA.

This year, Northview is working with Pensacola State College's Educational Opportunity Center to help parents and students with the FAFSA application. Ms. Wanda Wood from PSC’s Educational Opportunity Center will be at Northview this Monday, October 17, to help all graduating students start their FAFSA application. Please make sure your graduating students knows their social security number when coming to school on Monday to be able to start their FAFSA application.

Parents may contact Ms. Wood directly to receive help on their child’s FAFSA application. Her number is 850-484-1969.

Your child has received a letter to parents today with more details.

Graduating students,

Representatives from Pensacola State College will be present on Monday, October 17, during Mr. Chastain’s senior classes to help students complete their FAFSA, application. Make sure you know or have your social security number on Monday to be able to start your FAFSA.

Any graduating students who are not enrolled in Mr. Chastain’s Economics class and would like to attend one of these presentations need to contact Mr. Atallah right away to setup a period to attend the presentation.

Your first period teacher this morning is handing out a parent letter about the FAFSA. Make sure you give the letter to your parents.

SAT/PSAT Callout Script:

On Wednesday, October 12, we are offering the PSAT test for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students and the SAT non-college reportable to seniors who still have not met the graduation requirement of FSA Reading and/or Algebra 1 EOC.

If your senior child has already met the graduation requirements of FSA Reading and Algebra 1 EOC for a standard diploma, he or she will not be required to be in attendance during the time the SAT- non-college reportable test is administered on October 12.

Your senior may check in late on Wednesday, October 12. He or she must arrive at school by 11:20 in order to report to his or her assigned location by 11:30.

Those checking in late are responsible for their own transportation. If your senior does not have transportation to arrive late, then he or she should ride the bus at the regular time.

All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students must report to school at the regular time on October 12.

Due to the length of the test, we encourage students to receive a breakfast bag in the morning. Also, students may choose to bring a snack bar or other non-liquid snacks to eat during the five-minute breaks during the test.

Testing ends at various times between 12:00 and 2:30—or possibly after. Students may not check out in the middle of the test.

It is important that your child takes this test and does her or his best. The PSAT test results can lead to scholarship opportunities and can help prepare students for the college SAT test.

Northview's OPEN HOUSE is on August 30, at 6:00 PM.

Below is Mr. Sherrill's callout script:

Good Evening,

This is Mr. Sherrill, Principal at Northview High School. I wanted to remind everyone that our OPEN HOUSE event will be on August 30, at 6:00 PM, for parents and students who wish to attend. All parents and students in attendance should report to first period upon arrival, and we will progress through an abbreviated school day bell schedule. Teachers will quickly review each period what each course consists of and what the expectations are for the students. I would remind parents that it is not a time for a one on one conference with the teacher, but simply an opportunity to review their student’s progression through a regular school day. Conferences can be scheduled for a later date and time, if desired. The event should be completed by 7:00 PM or soon thereafter. Thank you, and GO CHIEFS!

Those checking in late are responsible for their own transportation. If your senior does not have transportation to arrive late, then he or she should ride the bus at the regular time.

All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students must report to school at the regular time on October 13.

Due to the length of the test, all students will receive a breakfast bag in the morning. Also students may choose to bring a snack bar or other non-liquid snacks to eat during the five-minute breaks during the test.

Testing ends at various times between 12:00 and 2:30—or possibly after. Students may not check out in the middle of the test.

It is important that your child takes this test and does her or his best. The PSAT test results can lead to scholarship opportunities and can help prepare students for the college SAT test.

Thank you.
