6TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES

Welcome to 6th grade Social Studies - Ancient Civilizations

This year we will be studying the following - Early Man through the Neolithic Era, Kush and Phoenicia, and the four River Valley Civilizations - Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, and Ancient India. This class will challenge students to research, analyze, think critically and formulate educated opinions. Students will look closely at each civilization using six themes of social studies modified from the ten themes listed by the National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies. Students will attain a greater understanding of world geography and how it affects a civilizations development. Students will make connections between the development and demise of civilizations from the past to the current day.
