6th Graders meet 3 days a week.  Our classes are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00-1:40pm.

THEME: BEACH

I hope you all get to go to the beach this summer and enjoy the warm sun, sandy beaches and cool water.  This week have fun drawing a beach scene.  I put all of them together in case you wanted to challenge yourself or simplify a drawing.  You can even make up your own.  Have Fun and share it with me if you want.

THEME:CAMPING

Camping is a leisure activity, usually during summer when school children are on vacation, where people leave their homes and spend one or more nights outdoors. Usually they seek nature, adventure, or a different environment. They may sleep in a camper van or trailer, a tent, or in the open air in good weather. Winter camping is less common but in some parts of the world, tents are people's homes year around.

Fun Facts about camping...

1.The most popular camping gear purchase is a flashlight.

2.On average tent users camp for 2.5 nights.

3. The U.S. Department of Defense is one of the world's largest users of tents.

4. The 1927 Girl Scouts manual featured the first official recipe for S'mores

5.  14% of the U.S. population, go camping each year

6.The Clayoquot Wilderness Resort in Vancouver Island, Canada, is the most expensive camping

spot in the world. A single night costs $3,900.

8.One of the most effective ways to reset a person's natural clock is to go camping.

9.Crickets can calculate the temperature

You don’t always need a fancy gadget to tell you how hot or cold it is. During the spring and summer months, you can calculate the temperature by listening to a chirping cricket. Simply count the number of chirps you hear in 14 seconds. Then, add 40 to that number to find out the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.

This week draw a camping scene.  How fun either following my step by step drawings or you can make up your own. I continue to love to see your awesome drawings.  They do not have to be the drawing that I suggest you draw.  They can be any sketches that you are doing at home.  Have a wonderful week and I hope you get an opportunity this summer to go camping!

FAIRY TAIL WEEK

A fairy tale is a story, often intended for children, that features fanciful and wondrous characters such as elves, dragons, goblins, wizards, and even, but not necessarily, fairies. Like all stories, fairy tales are meant to entertain, but that's secondary. Unlike today's novels, their main purpose is to give a moral in a way the audience will remember. They exist to teach a clear lesson. I am sure many of you have either read or have had someone read to you some of these most popular fairy tales.   Some of the most popular fairy tails are

Thumbelina, The Princess And The Pea, The Gingerbread Man, Rumpelstiltskin, Puss In Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack And The Beanstalk, Goldilocks And The Three Bears, The Ugly Duckling, And Rapunzel.                               .

This week I would you to draw a character from a Fairy Tail stories.  You can pick one of your favorites or you can follow one of my suggestion. I went with the theme of dragons!! Have fun and remember to share some of your favorite drawings with me.  I hope you have a great week and miss you all greatly!

We are focusing on SPACE DRAWINGS this week.  I thought I would share some fun facts about space that with...

1)THE MOON WAS ONCE A PIECE OF THE EARTH.

2)SPACE IS COMPLETELY SILENT.

3)Spacecraft have visited every planet.

4)A FULL NASA SPACE SUIT COSTS $12,000,000.

5) THERE ARE MORE STARS IN THE UNIVERSE THAN GRAINS OF SAND ON ALL THE BEACHES ON EARTH. THAT’S AT LEAST A BILLION TRILLION!

TODAY I WOULD LIKE YOU TO DRAW A SPACE THEME.  I PROVIDED TWO IDEAS HOWEVER YOU CAN COME UP WITH YOUR OWN! HAVE FUN

Memorial Day is on a Monday and it is a day to remember all the soldiers whom have fought for our country. Did you know that Memorial Day was also called Decoration Day. It was called that because people would decorate tomb stones with flowers and flag of people who have fought for our country.  Today we still decorate tomb stones with American flags and flowers in remembrance of those that have passed. Some go to parades, or picnics or even go to see fireworks.  Please remember to thank a veteran this week or honor a fallen soldier!

When I think of Memorial Day I think of several images that represent the USA. The American flag, an Eagle, Statue of Liberty, our National Anthem, and fireworks are just a few images that come to my head.  Today I would like you to draw an image that reminds your of our county and Memorial Day.

I have a suggestion for you to try out or you can come up with your own.

First, please watch this short video on Memorial Day

Second, you get to choose what you would like to draw. It can be my suggestion or you can find something on your own.

Finally, Have fun!!

Another sign that the weather is starting to get warmer is the level of noise on the road and on the river.  It gets louder!  With warmer weather, many different forms of transportation start to appear--not just cars and trucks, but also motorcycles and antique cars and convertibles and jeeps and bikes and scooters and the list goes on.  How about the river... boats and tubers and kayaks and canoes.  I am sure you could think of a lot more.  This week you are going to draw a form of transportation.  I miss seeing you all and hope you have another wonderful week.  Thank you for all your emails of beautiful pieces of artwork!!

There are many forms of transportation.  Today you can pick a form of transportation to draw or you can follow

the video on how to draw a Porsche Race Car.  There are a lot of how to draw vehicles on-line.

It is a lot of fun and I hope you have as much fun as I did!! Have another amazing week! Miss you all

It is going to be another great week ahead of us.  The weather is starting to warm up and the flowers are beginning to bloom beautifully.  In honor of spring and Mother's Day we are going to draw flowers this week to give to mom or grandma or an aunt or to someone special in your life!

Make someone smile this week with some flowers!!

A famous Dutch artist loved to paint sunflowers.  In this video you will learn about Vincent Van Gogh and his paintings.  When you are finished draw some sunflowers.  A suggestion on how to draw a sunflower is on the website.  It does not have to be in color if you don't have anything to color it in with. Enjoy drawing some flowers and share them with someone.

This week you will need two square pieces of paper before you begin. You can cut a rectangle paper into a square.

They can be any size and any color or even lined paper as long as it is square.

Have fun and Good luck!!

6th Graders this week you will think of an inspiring word or use your name.  Draw this word or name in bubble form on a medium or small sheet of paper.  If it is too large it will take a long time to complete.  Using the space around the word or name to create a tight, neat, black and white detail line designs in each space.  The art term for this is called zentangle art. You can look up zentangle art in google and it will give you lots of ideas! Have fun and good luck!
