Dear Parents,
I would like to formally introduce myself as your child’s Resource Teacher. I will be your child’s IEP case manager. I am here to support your child in achieving success in their general education classroom. I will work directly with your child and your child’s general education teacher. The general education teacher is your main point of contact. However, I am available to you by email and am able to call you after school if you request.
I am happy to listen, collaborate and provide feedback. If you would like frequent communication by email from me please let me know by emailing me at stephanie.carr@dysart.org. Let me know how frequently you would like me to email you.
I will tell you a little about myself. I have a master’s degree in special education. I have a daughter who has struggled with various challenges, including learning challenges through the years. I have been with Dysart at Surprise Elementary for ten years teaching a Structured Teaching Classroom. I am very familiar with ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities, emotional disabilities and intellectual disabilities. I have worked very closely with both speech and occupational therapists to address communication and motor deficits. I am very familiar with all resource teacher responsibilities through professional development training and through numerous resource teacher and general education teacher observations.
I will have the following classroom expectations for all students:
1. RESPECTFUL (TREAT EVERYONE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED)
2. SAFE (HANDS, FEET AND OBJECTS TO YOURSELF)
3. RESPONSIBLE (TURN IN YOUR WORK NEAT AND COMPLETED WITH YOUR BEST EFFORT)
Following these basic rules/expectations will keep the classroom running efficiently and promote student success and achievement in all areas. Make sure you review these expectations with your child prior to school starting and each morning before school. I will review them with students daily upon arrival to my classroom. If you have any concerns about something that may have occurred in my classroom please reach out right away by email.
I have met and begun building rapport with all of your children during the month of May this school year. I am extremely excited to be working with them and partnering with you and their general education teachers. I will do everything I can to ensure that all students feel safe at school, have opportunities to collaborate in class with their peers and make meaningful gains academically and socially, while increasing their communication skills, independence, and citizenship. If your child is struggling please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Carr
