About the Teacher

Welcome Families and Students,

My name is Alicia Mullins. I am thrilled to be your child’s 1st grade teacher! I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Teaching and Leadership. This will be my fourteenth year teaching. Most of my teaching career has been in kindergarten or first grade. I am married to a wonderful man and have a beautiful seven-year-old daughter named, Ariel. I also have two dogs, two cats, and a horse. Some of my favorite things to do are baking, horseback riding, reading mystery novels, camping, and spending time with my family and friends.

My expectations for my students are high, yet attainable. I also believe that every student learns at their own pace, and will do everything I can to differentiate the instruction to meet every child's individual needs. We are going to embark on many exciting learning adventures in the coming months!

My goal is to create a safe, fun, and challenging learning environment. I believe that in order for the classroom to run smoothly, there needs to be set classroom expectations, rules, and procedures. These expectations, rules, and procedures of my classroom are intended to keep the classroom environment safe, orderly, and productive. I will use Class Dojo for a lot of my parent communication and student portfolios.  The first few weeks of school will be spent on getting to know all of the students and building our classroom community. We will also learn the classroom expectations, rules, and procedures. Learning these procedures and building our classroom community will help make the rest of the year a success!

I look forward to working with each of you to reach your child’s goals and dreams! If you have any questions, please contact me by email at alicia.mullins@dysart.org. Here's to a year full of exciting learning adventures!

 Your 1st Grade Teacher,

Mrs. Mullins
