Research at the Library

There are many resources you can use at the SMS Library to conduct research for your project. Use the library catalog (Sussman Library)or ask Ms. Powers for assistance. We also have access to online databases, which are the most reliable and accurate resources available.

Online Databases

SMS has access to Britannica School. Click on the Britannica School image below to find well researched, accurate information on your topic. You can also upload articles to your Google Drive account. See Ms. Powers if you do not remember the user name and password.

Gale in Context is a database where you can research anything you need for your school projects. With Gale in Context, you can highlight, take notes, and send them all to your Google Drive. See Ms. Powers if you do not remember the password.

MLA

Modern Language Association

MLA is a way of formatting your written work and citing your sources. Although there are other styles, such as APA and Chicago, your high school teachers here at DUSD will most likely ask you to use MLA format.

A great resource is published online from the OWL (Online Writing Lab) at Purdue University. Click the image below to find out more about formatting your work, MLA style!
