Helpful Hints: The First Few Days
Helpful Hints: The First Few Days
First Few Days of School
· Please print and cut out the nametag if you did not get one in the mail. Click here for the nametag. Fill out the information and have your child wear it for the first two weeks.
· Make sure your child knows his/her lunch choice daily. Lunch menus can be found on the Duneland School Website.
· Be sure your child has a small, healthy snack in a bag separate from his/her lunch. On the first day, a snack will be provided by the teacher.
· You are encouraged to walk your child into the classroom on the first day of school. Please be sure to meet the teacher and help your child hang his/her belongings in the coat closet.
· **First day Only--There will be toys out on the tables. Please help your child become engaged in an activity while the teacher is greeting other students. Once your child has started playing or has met a friend, it is time to say good-bye. This can be hard for many parents (trust me, I’ve been there). The best thing you can do is tell them you will see them after school and you can’t wait to hear about their day. For the first three days of the first week, you may walk your child to the classroom but he/she should enter and start their day independently. By Monday, your child should walk to class independently.
