Library Schedule

Direct Instruction by Media Specialist

Each class will come to the library for a formal lesson during their two day related arts rotation. Instruction may include searching for books, learning about authors and genres or caring for library materials.

Technology instruction will also be presented to each class. Grade level appropriate activities will introduce students to digital device skills, researching online and internet safety & digital citizenship.

Additional library/technology instruction is anticipated both formally and informally based on special projects and research planned cooperatively by teachers and the media staff.

Other lessons presented in the library include practicing research skills by locating different types of resources both printed and online. Students will learn to evaluate resources and use information to accomplish a goal or create a project.

Students will be involved in developing technology skills for both content creation and digital use.

Makerspace and coding activities will be taught during media lessons. Digital Citizenship and additional coding activities will be incorporated into media lessons during the school year.

Digital books will be available to students and online searching and check out procedures will be taught.

Students will have designated library check-out periods and lessons during a 2 day rotation. Additional visits to the library will be determined by individual teachers and based on the needs of each child.

Check - Out Policy

All other students will be allowed two books from the library. If classroom assignments require the use of additional books, special arrangements will be made.

With the exception of special circumstances or programs, the library will be open each day school is in session.
