Homework Expectations

Homework Expectations

  • We ask that each student read for 20 minutes a night. We send a "book in a bag" that contains a book that your child has chosen from our classroom library that is at his/her level. We ask that you have your child write the title on the recording sheet and that you sign to indicate that they read for the required amount of time.
  • We ask students to complete 3 "green lights" on Reflex math, our program that we use to increase fact fluency, each week. For the most part, students are able to do this in school. If they are consistently not able to, they are able to earn the green light at home.
  • Occasionally, if a student is falling behind, we may ask them to stay after with us or to take the work home to finish. If work is sent home, we attempt to let you know that it is coming either with a phone call or a note in your child's agenda.
  • Agendas are provided by the school and should be taken home nightly. Extra space is provided for any comments or questions, to provide another area for parent-teacher communication. The agendas are provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Parent responsibility includes confirming the child has fully completed all required work.
  • Parent signature in agenda indicates your verification that the work is fully completed. A note may also be written to share with us any difficulty that your child had completing the assignment.

We encourage children to be independent in helping out their parents and reminding them to sign their agendas. Please encourage your child to make it a daily habit to share their work that comes home in their folders and ask you to sign their agenda.
