General description of the course
The course has the goal to introduce students to Cloud computing, illustrating its general characteristics, the underlying technologies, the main working mechanisms and the most relevant challenges.
Prerequisites
Students are supposed to possess the knowledge typically provided by a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science in the fields of Computer architecture, Ethernet networks, TCP/IP protocol stack, Multi-tier applications, Symmetric and asymmetric cryptography.
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course students will possess advanced knowledge of:
characteristics of cloud computing services;
characteristics of data centers;
characteristics of virtualization;
characteristics of virtualization automation.
Applying knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course students will be able to:
apply the learned methodologies to the analysis of cloud services and related computing infrastructures;
deal autonomously with further recent research results and contribute to the development of new solutions.

Characteristics of the final exam
The final exam is in form of an oral exam, concerning all the arguments illustrated in the lecture notes.
Please note that you have to be regularly enrolled in the second year of the Degree in order to take the exam.
Exam dates
The oral exams will be held in the months stated below. Exact dates will be published as soon as they will be established.

will be taken at distance, on the Google Meet platform.
