Tardy Letter to Parents

Hi. The following notice was sent home with all students on Monday. I am pasting and attaching the letter here in case it got lost in the backpack universe....

January 30, 2017

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Families:

A top priority at our school is student achievement and maximizing instructional minutes. Tardies are a major disruption to the learning environment and student learning. Students miss the introduction and instructions to the day’s lesson. In addition, the learning stops while the tardy student settles into his/her seat.

Student tardies continue to be a problem. We have met with students to discuss tardy concerns, contacted families, and have issued lunch detention for every three tardies. Unfortunately, our interventions have not been successful.

Beginning today, January 30, 2017, all students who accumulate fifteen (15) or more tardies from this date forward will be excluded from school activities. The activities include, but are not limited to runs, dances, field trips, parties, and end-of-year eighth grade activities. In addition, students will continue to receive detention for every three tardies.

Many students received a Probationary Exclusion letter for the Color Run and Dance. The contract is still in place as the Run and Dance are only weeks away (Friday, February 17^th).
