STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. You may have also heard of STEM and now STREAM which includes Reading. In our class, we do much more than just Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic from days gone by. We incorporate STEAM into our daily/weekly work (you may be asked to send in donations such as paper towel and toilet paper cardboard rolls once you have used the paper as we use the rolls to build). One major STEAM project is the raising of Rainbow Trout eggs to the Fry stage and releasing. This is done with the cooperation of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Lake Cahuilla, and the Coachella Valley Water DIstrict. The students always have an amazing time and it is something to look forward to!
We are the only classroom, within the entire Coachella Valley that does this project.
