“Education is our only hope.” This is their cry. This is the reason why parents of Hermana Fausta Family Association was so eager to send their children to school. They want a bright future for their children thru education, but, the nearest school is quite far from them. Since there is no public transportation available, they hire tricycles or they walk 50 minutes to reach school. They have to bear the very hot sun and the rainy and stormy days during the wet season. They also need to face the danger of crossing a national highway. Having to face these challenges the officers of Hermana Fausta Family Association (HFFA) decided to bring the school to the community. They immediately held a meeting and organized themselves. They went to the Lucena City Division of City Schools and expressed their desire to have a school within their compound. Seeing the need, DepEd Lucena agreed on the condition that the community will provide for a school site. They did not waste any time, the officers thru the initiative of the HFFA Pres. Rolando Egos requested Mrs. Cynthia Eleazar, manager of Ellipse, a garment factory as a temporary classroom. Her generosity paved the way for the opening of the new school for the Grades 1 and 2, as an annexed of Silangang Mayao Elementary School. Thru the effort of Mr. Briccio Batanes, who was then the principal of Sil. Mayao E/S, the school site was formally endorsed as a donation with condition, in the presence of Mr. Felix Avillo, Mrs. Lilibeth Gayeta and Mrs. Belen Hutalla together with the Schools Division Superintendent Mrs. Yolita S Amiscosa.

Classes formally started with Ms. Thelma Morales as the first full time and volunteer teacher together with Mrs. Sarah San Miguel and Mrs. Helen Beredo as part time teachers. They had 25 pupils in grade one and 24 pupils in grade two, Mr. Mutsalem Asia was the OIC.

The first visitation by the superintendent and school medical team happened a month after. They saw the big support needed to keep the school.

Mrs. Adelina C. Mapaye became the next principal when Mr. Batanes retired from the service in July 2, 2004 and a new set of teachers were added. They were Mrs. Lalaine De Luna, Mrs. Merly Castillo and Mrs. Thelma Morales. They had produced 15 graduates in the year 2004-2005.

Year 2006, Mr. Ricardo A. Mapaye was designated principal of the school. This time, school population is growing and the Ellipse Garment Factory is no longer enough for the school children. The school needs an expansion, but the donated school site is located in a residential area. The HFFA Officers with the new set of officers headed by Mrs. Luzviminda Magtibay, Vice-Pres. Purita Palmero, Sec. Mrs. Norma Gayetano, Treas. Emily Tallada, Housing Chairman Mrs. Veronica de Luna and Members Mrs. Emma Lawig, Mrs. Bella Hutalla and Mr. Dominador Aurellana, decided to choose a lot that will be perfect for the construction of a new school. They agreed to amend the former donation by exchanging the donated lot of the Ellipse Garment to a new location outside the residential lots. November 26, 2007, a new building was granted through the help of our Hon. Mayor Ramon Y. Talaga thru the effort of Mr. Mapaye, in the new school site.

June 2008, Silangang Mayao Elementary School Annex became an independent school as Hermana Fausta Elementary School. The name Hermana Fausta came from the name of the Housing Project Association. There were three teachers with complete multi-grade level, Mrs. Nancy D. La Rosa was the school head. During her administration, armchairs were provided for the school children. After a few weeks, she was moved to another school and Mrs. Connie Veluz took her place . The number of population of the school was doubled. July of the same year, Mr. Benigno Plazuelo was assigned principal of the newly independent school. The teaching staff became five with one multi-grade level, grade three and grade four. All through the effort of Mr. Plazuelo, water supply was granted. He also requested the leveling of the hillside site of the school.

November 15, 2008, Mrs. Rowela M. Caperiṅa, Principal I was assigned in Hermana Fausta Elem. School. Through her effort, Hermana Fausta had an electric supply. Office of the principal was made possible in her time. During her stay, she organized a project to beautify the school. The playground was landscaped with an attractive fountain. The pupils started to compete in different contests. She stayed for almost six months.

The First Commencement Exercises with in the school ground was held March 28, 2008 as Hermana Fausta Elem. School.

Mrs. Jocelyn R. Abellanosa, Principal I, became the next school head, June 8, 2009. She opened the first Kindergarten Class. Her stay was cut short by a vacancy in a bigger school, where she was transferred after three months.

It was October 5, 2009, when a new principal in the person of Lota R. Garcia was sent to Hermana Fausta Elementary school. She saw the difficult situation. Grades 1,2 and 5 are using the 5mx8m old garment factory and the office share a small portion of it. The rooms are thinly divided by 1/8mm plywood. Grades 3 and 6 are using the newly constructed RYT Bldg., while Grade 4 used the improvised classroom made of pure GI sheets. Because the school is not secured and not conducive for learning, cutting classes and absenteeism is rampant. There were no comfort rooms and the pupils used the barangay comfort rooms intended for the community, which is near the old garment factory. There was no school aid to take care of the school properties except for the concern couple who voluntary work s for the school. The school has no fund to spend for the many expenses that needs to be addressed. The nest day, the school head, Ms. Lota R. Garcia called for a faculty meeting to gather information about the community. The following day she organized a PTA meeting but few came. She reviewed the pending projects of the school that needs to be prioritized. There was no office equipment to make communication letters to stakeholders, so she rendered her laptop for office use. She then started to pursue the priority projects with the LGU’s, NGO’s, businessmen and affluent families of the place. She also started a school canteen by donating slightly used oven and two- burner gas stove. With the teachers’ and the parents’ cooperation, they were able to generate fund while serving nutritious food. The parents started coming tho school joining different activities. The school started to be noticed by stakeholders. The school’s first printer was donated by a retired U.S. Navy residing in the place. And their first computer was from the city government all thru the principal’s effort and PTA President Guillermo Fabrero. The Rotary Club of Lucena South offered a feeding program for the malnourished children and they also donated 2 slightly used computer sets. A one-story two-classroom project of Sen. Juan ponce Enrile for HFES was approved. July 2010 thru Ms. Lota R. Garcia’s perseverance the promised classroom of the local government with a two-storey, two-classroom was constructed under the administration of the newly elected City Mayor Hon. Barbara Ruby C. Talaga. After a month one classroom from the DepEd National Office came. January 28, 2011, all the newly built five classrooms were inaugurated. It was year 2011-2012 when 1:1 classroom was achieved by the school with a principal’s office. The school head did not stop seeking support from people and their Land Title, legally transferred to, DepEd Lucena City in 2013,thru the school heads hard work and perseverance. Guided by her dedication to work, the school was able to acquire printers and TV/DVD in each classroom. It was 2012 when APO KAA and ABS-CBN Foundation donated Educational TV Package to the school with the help of Dr. Epifania Carandang. To maximize the use of TV sets that school year, Cable TV and internet service was prioritized from the school MOOE. Year 2013 thru the Brigada Eskwela Program, One Meralco Foundation donated 5 computer units for intermediate pupils use. To secure the school properties, PTA Projects were launched yearly to raise funds for the perimeter fence. As of now the school 90% surrounded by concrete fence through the support of the PTA and with the help Of Mr. Ronald Bebida, Mr. Perfecto Luchavez and Remegio Enriquez of Purok IlangIlang II A small covered court was also granted to the school by Cong. Irvin Alcala. To provide for the anticipated growth the school and at the same time maximize space they requested for a two-storey, four-classroom , but a one-storey-two classroom was approved instead. It was one of the first PPP Projects of DepEd built in the Lucena City Division. At present Basic Computer is taught in Grade 6. The school is slowly making names in the field of sports ( Sepak-ta-Kraw, Tae-Kwon-Do and field events). The school has hired a security guard and aid to secure and maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the place. At present the school is beginning to recognized in the Division of Lucena City.
