Before we begin with details of the trip we need to thank everyone for celebrating with us on the most wonderful night of our lives. The evening could not have been lovelier- the weather was great, we were surrounded by the people we love most and the surroundings were incredible. It was a lot of work on many peoples parts and you all need to know that we appreciate all that you have done for us. It was an awesome evening and everything was beautiful- thanks!
We got home from Ta & Snappy’s around 1 and went to bed. We got three hours of sleep and made it to the airport in enough time to check our luggage and board the flight. The rough weather that was in Chackbay on Saturday is now in this area of the country. We flew it. The last 30 minutes of the flight was bumpy but not too scary. We got about an hour of sleep on the plane.
It was raining when we arrived and still is this evening. It’s in the low 40’s but feels a little cooler because of the wind. We took a cab to our hotel and arrived here before 10. Driving to the hotel we got glimpses of the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, and cherry trees! It was exciting just to see those places from the cab- I cannot wait to visit each of them.
We were starved so we checked in and ate a breakfast buffet in the very hip bar downstairs. Then the tiredness set in. We came back up to our room and slept for a few hours. Full tummy’s and exhaustion make for great sleep!
We watched a little TV and then decided that we were hungry once again and realized that we had not packed any ‘film’ (compact flash cards) for our camera so we should try to locate some. Schmoop went out and found a CVS and purchased some umbrellas for us. We then headed out a couple of blocks away from the hotel to eat at Old Ebiitt’s Grill. It’s considered a must-eat place here so we did just that. We both wanted cheeseburgers and fries and washed it down with a few Miller Lite’s. Great atmosphere in the restaurant. We then walked out a few more blocks and found a Staples where we purchased a couple of cards for the camera along with some snacks and toiletries that we were missing. Upon leaving the drug store we realized that we were walking on Pennsylvania Avenue. You know it- the most famous address in the US- 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. G W’s crib- the White House. Our hotel faces the back yard of the White House so we took the opportunity to shoot a few pictures of us there- of course our hands were full of groceries and umbrellas but it was worth it. We promise to get some photos of the front of the house at some point and hopefully we won’t need the umbrellas. Although, when I checked the weather online, there is a possibility of snow later in the week- go figure.
When we made it back to the hotel we decided to call it a night because of the weather and we were still beat. We’re ordering in room service and watching a movie. We haven’t decided on an agenda for tomorrow yet let’s just hope the weather cooperates- regardless, we will be out and about!
Our dinner just arrived so I am going to call it a night. Schmoop is taking a picture of my typing with the food cart in frame- ain’t life great!!!!
Thanks again for a gorgeous wedding for us to remember. We are blessed to be loved by so many-
