Emily Benson - Counselor For Prevention (C4P)

Hello! I am so excited to be joining the counseling department at Cimarron this year! As the Counselor For Prevention (C4P), I have the opportunity to work with all students and staff in the areas of mental health, drug and alcohol prevention, and community outreach.

I grew up outside of St. Louis and received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Indiana Wesleyan University. I then earned a Masters in Education from Ball State University. In 2012, I completed my Masters in School and Professional Counseling from Stephens College.

I spent several years as a Mental Health Specialist for a school district in Missouri before we chased the sunshine to Colorado in 2012. Since moving to Colorado, I've worked as a case worker for Arapahoe County, and I've also been a counselor in the district.

On a personal note, my husband, James, and I have twin daughters. When we aren't chauffeuring our daughters to and from activities, we love being outdoors with our three dogs.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out. I am looking forward to getting to know our students and families.

You may reach me at 720-433-1318 or ebenson@dcsdk12.org.

Jill Bull - 6th Grade Counselor

Welcome. It was an honor and a pleasure to serve on the planning team for Cimarron Middle School. I will be working with teams Aztec, Morgan, Nokota, and Shire.

I grew up in Chicago and attended Illinois State University my first two years of college. Skiing and sunshine brought me to Colorado where I completed my undergraduate degree in education at the University of Northern Colorado. I taught fifth grade through eighth grade before pursuing a career as a counselor. I received my masters in counseling from the University of Phoenix. This is my 29th year working in Douglas County Schools.

After beginning my teaching career as a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Franktown Elementary School, I opened Chaparral High School, Sierra Middle School, Legend High School, and Cimarron Middle School. My career highlight was being recognized as the Colorado Middle School Counselor of the Year.

I am here as a resource for you and your student. I encourage you to stop by, call, or email me if you have any questions.

You may reach me at 720-433-1357 or jkbull@dcsdk12.org.

Valerie Fincher - 7th Grade Counselor

Welcome back 7th graders! I am so excited to meet with any new students and work with the 7th grade students as they return on the journey through middle school. I look forward to getting to know each of my students and families. I love middle school and I am happy to provide support to students throughout their time at CiMS; I am a resource for both parents and students. Please stop by and introduce yourself!

I grew up in California where I loved being near the beach. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in psychology from Cal State Fullerton and taught at a non public high school there for 7 years. I moved to Colorado in 2005 when my husband opened a business here so that we would have more family time together. At that time, I went back to school at University of Phoenix for my masters in counseling because my passion is working with kids. I enjoy swimming, biking, and time with my family.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at 720-433-1339 or vcfincher@dcsdk12.org. Valerie C. Fincher

Holly Laut - 8th Grade Counselor

Hello students and families! I am so excited to guide our 8th graders through their last year of middle school and get them ready for their high school journey. I truly enjoy working with middle school students and I am looking forward to another year full of learning, growth, and fun! The wonderful students, caring and competent staff, and involved parents all contribute to make Cimarron a wonderful community, and I love being a part of it.

I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Boulder Valley in 2009 and absolutely love living in Colorado! I managed an after school program for elementary school students while I went back to school for my master's degree in school counseling. I started working at Cimarron in 2014. I love running, hiking, and exploring the beauty of Colorado. I met and married my husband James in Boulder and we have a beautiful and energetic little girl and a sweet hound mix dog.

I am a resource within the school for students and parents for various needs, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. 720-433-1372 hmlaut@dcsdk12.org.
