The following field trip information is only for my Engineering I students in 3rd and 6th periods: You must use the link below to pay and sign the DCSD Waiver. Once you do that I will send you a waiver from IFLY as well. The link will close on Friday March 13th.

Title: IFly STEM Field Trip

Date: 3/24/19 Tuesday

Explanation: Your students will get fired up about math and physics when they see it come to life in a state-of-the-art wind tunnel. Our STEM program inspires and educates students through an immersive, educational program where they first learn science and technology, and then defy gravity by flying. They will get training and 1 or 2 flight(s) to experiment with frontal surface area.

• • Learn how STEM is used in the real-world.

  • Draw and interpret free-body force diagrams.

  • Understand the nature of fluids and how they exert forces on solid objects.

  • Derive equations to represent physical phenomena.

  • Apply engineering principles to think about tunnel design, energy efficiency, and safety factors.

  • Understand variability, uncertainty, and error in experimental results.

  • Understand how model rockets fly and the difference in how they are made for different situations

Cost: Option 1 Per Person- $55.00 - includes pizza lunch, transportation, demonstration and work with forces as well as 1 flight.

Option 2 Per Person - $65.00 - includes pizza lunch, transportation, demonstration and work with forces as well as 2 flights - Get to go higher and experience more about terminal velocity and surface area.
