Ms. Jamie Kirkland, Drama Teacher and Director
Jamie Kirkland is ecstatic to be here at Sagewood! This will be her sixth year at Sagewood and 11th year of her career.
Jamie was born and raised in the Memphis, TN area and has always been very passionate about the performing arts. She graduated from Bolton High School in 2009, where she was active in color guard, band, and theatre. During the summer of 2008, Jamie attended the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts, a 5-week arts intensive, college-level program for rising high school juniors and seniors at Middle Tennessee State University. She fell in love with the campus and the community and decided to return to campus in Fall 2009, this time as an undergraduate. While at MTSU, Jamie participated in the Band of Blue color guard, symphonic band and wind ensemble (clarinet/bass clarinet), and various Theatre department activities. She graduated summa cum laude in Spring 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Theatre Education with a Minor in Music. The following August, Jamie began her teaching career with the position as Director of Drama and Musical Theatre at Meigs Academic Magnet Middle School, where she spent five years working with some of the best kiddos in the state of Tennessee.
Now Jamie is here in Colorado, where she lives with her flat-faced cat, Sir. She loves her house, the weather, green chili, hiking, the lack of humidity, the lightrail, and the appreciation for the arts that is overwhelmingly present in the Denver area.
When she's not teaching/at school (which isn't often - school is her second home!), Jamie likes painting, playing video games, sewing, watching Netflix, exploring new places, traveling, and cooking/baking. She's a Hufflepuff, an ENFJ, and Team Instinct on Pokemon Go. :)
