Homework

Homework for primary age students is designed to both broaden and reinforce skills and concepts that are taught in class. It is also meant to be a tool to communicate with families the skills and concepts that are being presented at school. Through the partnership of school and home it is important to establish positive study habits and homework routines for students. Though completing homework is the responsibility of students, young learners still need the support of families to assist as needed, and to help to establish routines that will help students be successful in the long term. Homework should be completed Monday thru Thursday and should take about 20-25 minutes, depending on the needs of your child. Adjustments should be made to accommodate individual needs. A general guideline for homework is : 10 minutes nightly reading, 10 minutes of nightly math, 5 minutes of spelling/language activities.
