Ms. Kaufman's Background Information
I became passionate about the performing arts in middle school and high school. You could say theatre helped me get through the awkward years. In college I became passionate about arts education. I have a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts with an Emphasis in Secondary Education and a minor in English from the University of Northern Colorado and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs. This will be my 14th year teaching at CRMS.
I’ve worked with all grades, but I enjoy inspiring middle school students. I hope students take away audience awareness, presentation skills, and confidence from my class. My goal is to create a safe space or judge free zone for students to express themselves and learn presentation skills that will prepare them for the future.
There are TWO theatre classes students can take at CRMS.
1.) Drama Class
In Drama Class, students will learn...
Audience Etiquette
Improvisation
Volume and Articulation
Creating Character Voices
Film Acting Techniques
Theatre Production Jobs
Pantomime Skills
Character Development
Blocking/Staging Techniques
Ancient Greek Theatre
Theatre Vocabulary
2.) Stagecraft (Technical Theatre)
The Stagecraft course provides CRMS students with experience and skill in one or more aspects of theatrical production, such as lighting, costuming, sound, set construction, makeup, stage management, and helping with a fall/spring production.
The Fine Arts Philosophy Statement:
The arts uniquely empower students to create, perform, critically respond, and make real world connections as they evolve into leaders of the next generation.
