Hello! My name is Janis Doyle and I'm so excited to be your 6th Grade Science Teacher for the Nokota Team at Cimarron in 2025-26! I can't imagine being in any other profession!
Here's a little about me:
Originally from Hamilton, MT.
Happily married (to another DCSD teacher!).
Two children - Emily is 22 and Brian is 20. Emily graduated from Legend in May of 2021 and is attending ATP Flight School at the Centennial Airport. Brian graduated from Legend in May of 2024 and is attending the University of Montana in Missoula and is majoring in Business Finance.
I love my family sooooo much!
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2000 from the University of Montana Western in Dillon, MT.
I earned my Master of Arts in Elementary Education with a Technology Emphasis in 2003 from National University.
We moved to CA as soon as we were married in 1999.
We moved to CO as soon as we had Emily in 2003.
This is the start of my 26th year of teaching. I am inspired by my daily interactions with my incredible students! My goal is to create an atmosphere of creative, mindful thinking and to empower my students to look beyond the obvious.
I've taught 8 years of 2nd grade, 1 year of 1st grade, 3 years of 3rd grade, 1 year of 5th grade, and this is the start of my 13th year in 6th grade at Cimarron. It's my eighth year teaching science at this level; my first 5 years at Cimarron were spent teaching math on Team Morgan. My first 3 years of teaching were in Fontana, CA, the next 4 were at Rock Ridge Elementary in Castle Rock, the following 3 were at Mountain View Primary, and I then spent 3 years at Northeast Intermediate. I feel very passionately that my strong elementary education foundation and background knowledge help me to fit perfectly in the 6th grade setting and that I am able to support students at every level. I am on our Building Leadership Team at Cimarron and am a New Teacher Mentor. I am our Science Department Chair and our 6th Grade Professional Learning Community Lead. I also coach the High Jumpers in Track at Cimarron - make sure you go out in the Spring! I am also the Colts Corral Coordinator, so I will be meeting the incoming Cimarron students each Summer before many others get to meet them! I often volunteer for committees and activities to help our students and our school.
My teaching philosophy is that all children should be given the opportunity to learn at THEIR appropriate level. I differentiate my lessons and encourage students to differentiate for themselves wherever it's possible. Students are responsible for much of their learning, as I believe that teaching them HOW to learn is just as important as the actual content. I incorporate technology and critical thinking into my lessons and ask my students to evaluate their thought processes on a regular basis. I believe that we are a TEAM - students, parents, support staff, administration, and me - that will work tirelessly to accomplish as much as possible for your child to grow throughout the year.
~Welcome to Cimarron Middle School!~
~We are going to have an amazing journey together!~
