Homework Policy

Homework is an opportunity for students to practice what they've learned in class with the purpose of solidifying academic or critical thinking skills completed earlier in the day. I encourage students to enjoy family time and extracurricular activities they are passionate about. Through this, they will learn and share their excitement with our class. Students sometimes interpret this as they "do not have homework". However, I strongly encourage students to complete the following activities:

    • Nightly reading for 30 minutes. The goal is to develop a LOVE of reading.

    • Word study

    • Fact practice (practice multiplication and division facts to automaticity through 12)

    • Math homework (students could benefit from extra practice at home by reviewing and completing the take home math lesson, as well as practice online.)

These activities will establish a routine that builds mastery over the course of the school year.
