Choirs

The Chaparral High School Choir Program includes four Choirs:

CONCERT CHOIR 

This choir is for all grades and explores a large variety of choral literature. Students will learn fundamentals of proper vocal and choral performance and become increasingly aware of the historical background of composers, artists and compositions. 

CON BRIO 

Con Brio is a select mixed ensemble of students who demonstrate high levels of vocal skill and personal responsibility, as well as a scholarly attitude towards musicianship. To be selected for this group, students must demonstrate expressive singing, good pitch, and some knowledge of the printed music page. Emphasis will be on developing maturity and precision in the performance of the full range of choral literature for mixed voices. 

RAGAZZE CANTANTI 

This class is Chaparral's all women's choir. Emphasis will be on developing precision in the performance of high quality choral literature and helping students to become increasingly aware of the historical background of composers, artists and compositions. Grades 10, 11, 12. 

AMPLITUDE 

The Amplitude mixed jazz choir is an audition choir of 16-20 students. The emphasis of the course is to expose these students to the professional standards of vocal jazz in the area of literature, basic musical knowledge an proper stylization of performing for public audiences. There will be many performances outside of class time, all required. There will also be extra required rehearsals. Membership in another ensemble class is required.
