DNM= "Does Not Meet 5th Grade Expectations"
A= "Approaching 5th Grade Expectations"
M= "Meets 5th Grade Expectations"
E= "Exceeds 5th Grade Expectations"
Essential Skills Grading
Novice = Basic understanding of the skill
Advanced Beginner = Enhanced understanding and basic application of the skill
Strategic Learner = Enhanced application and basic inquiry to move past the expected
Emerging Expert = Insightful analysis of the skill to move past the expected to create work that is above expectation
Essential Skills
The state of Colorado enacted legislation to ensure that students are not only assessed on subject matter knowledge but also on Essential Skills that prepare students for the twenty-first-century workforce and for active citizenship.
Entrepreneurial Skills: critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, inquiry and analysis, and risk taking.
Personal Skills: self-awareness, initiative and self-direction, personal responsibility and self management, adaptability and flexibility, and perseverance and resilience
Civic/Interpersonal Skills: collaboration and teamwork, strong communication skills, global and cultural awareness, civic engagement and strong character
Professional Skills: time management, career awareness, information literacy, perseverance and resilience, productivity and accountability, self-advocacy, and leadership.: identify and ask questions that clarify various points of view.
