Meet the K Team

       Teachers

Sharon Godbey

This is my 18th year being blessed to teach kindergarten at SGES.  I graduated from HPU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. I completed my Masters in Elementary Education at WSSU and earned my National Board Certification in 2010. I was honored to be Shady Grove's Teacher of the Year in 2014. I grew up here in Davie County and attended Shady Grove Elementary as a child. I am actually teaching kindergarten in the same classroom I was in my kindergarten year!

At home, I have a wonderful husband who shares my love for animals. We live on a little bit of a farm with 4 full size horses (Sparkles, Joker, Charlie, and Goldie), 3 miniature horses (Missy, Lilly, and Sassy) a donkey (Eeyore), and chickens.  I can't forget to mention our dogs (Peddie and Bailey), and three cats (Scooter, Li'l Bit, and Nittens). You will probably hear lots of stories about them this year!

I am looking forward to working with you and making your child's kindergarten year a wonderful educational experience!

Traci Richardson

Growing up in a home where my mom and dad were both educators and seeing the impact they had on

their student's lives, I knew at an early age that I wanted to become a teacher one day.  After teaching for

30 years, I have never regretted my decision.  I love to see young children blossom during the school year,

knowing I had a part in helping them achieve their goals for that year.  All 30 years of my experience

have been teaching either kindergarten or first grade. I received an AA degree from Emmanuel College,

a BS degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Lander University, and a Master's

Degree in Education from Southern Wesleyan University.

I have been married for 33 years to my husband , Dave, and we have two children, Kalie and Jaret and his wife, Grayson.

I enjoy singing, working in my yard, playing with and walking my mini golden doodle, Magnolia, painting wood projects and spending time with my family.

I am very thankful to be working at Shady Grove and enjoy discovering new and exciting ways to teach

your child each day! I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Gina Bandy

I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten this year. I am a graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught grades in the K-4 range and I love teaching kindergarten!  My own children all went through Shady Grove and I have been a part of this staff since 2008.

I am in my 19th year of teaching.  I am a mother of three young adult children. My oldest is Caroline. She is a recent NC State graduate and newly married. She and her husband, Jeremy are currently living in Pennsylvania. Landon, my son, is a recent graduate of NC State. He is living and working full-time in Raleigh. My youngest daughter is Ava. She is in nursing school at Appalachian State University. My husband, Darryl, and I have lived in Davie county for over 20 years. We are active in our community and our church. I also have one dog named Chipper.

I am excited to be apart of this huge milestone in your child’s live. We will work hard with you and your child to have a great kindergarten year!

I am so excited to get to know your little ones. I have been in education for several years. I was a Teacher Assistant in kindergarten and first grade previously in the WSFCS school system and also have experience teaching preschool. My husband and I recently moved to Davie county to be closer to family and my own granddaughter is a first grader at Shady Grove where I have also been involved in the PTO! I love being with children and watching them learn and grow! Thank you for sharing them with me!
