Welcome to 6th Grade!
Are you ready for another school year?
My name is Jeremy Brooks and I will be your son/daughter’s Language Arts teacher. This is my 28th year in education. I have done pretty much everything there is to do in a school setting during those years. My experiences include curriculum coordinator, RTA Camp Director, Response to Instruction Program Director, Adjunct Professor and Assistant Principal, both here at North Davie as well as Davie High School. All of those positions were very fulfilling, but my passion is and always has been teaching. I have been a classroom teacher for 23 years including six teaching 5th grade at Mocksville Elementary school. I am National Board Certified and was named Mocksville’s Teacher of the Year in 2003. In 2019, I was named North Davie Teacher of the Year.
I love teaching all subjects, but my favorite is reading and writing. Of course, I also have a passion for history so I'd call Social Studies a close second. I am beyond excited to get back into the classroom and I cannot wait for the year to start!

North Davie wants grading to be fair, clear, and the same across our school. We also want grades to show what students have learned and what they still need help with. With that in mind, we will be following the district's new grading policy to ensure we are all on the same page. More information can be found on the district's website.
Preparation Assignments (15%)
These assignments help students learn something new with support from the teacher or classmates.
Practice Assignments (35%)
These assignments help students practice skills while they are still learning. Students may make mistakes during practice, and that is okay. Teachers use these assignments to give feedback and help students improve.
Performance Assignments (50%)
These assignments show what students can do on their own after learning and practicing.
