About

Welcome to the Stadley Rough Media Center Website.

Mrs. Van Keuren (Library Media Specialist) joined the STR staff in the fall of 2013.

She relocated with her family to Connecticut from the Southern Tier Region of New York.

A former journalist at a daily newspaper in upstate New York, she covered every kind of story including crime, business, education, politics and entertainment. Some of her stories were picked up nationwide, and one even appeared on a network late night show for it's unusual headline.

She began her library career in 2003 working part-time at a private school, Millbrook School in Dutchess County, New York, while attending graduate school at the University of Albany, State University of New York.

As Mrs. Van Keuren completed her graduate work, she was hired in 2004 as an elementary library media specialist in Hunter, N.Y., -- the elementary school she attended as a child.

She moved to Connecticut the following school year and worked for the Milford Board of Education as a middle school media specialist. Her family relocated to western New York in 2009, and she landed a position as District School Media Specialist at a preK-12 district of 450 students. In the summer of 2013, her family returned to Connecticut.

Mrs. Van Keuren is married with two children, aged 12 and 10.

Her hobbies are reading, biking, hiking, family Friday movie nights, playing with (and picking up after) her family and rowing with the New Haven Rowing Club.
