Five Finger Rule Test To check the Reading Level of a Book

1. Choose a book by first reading the title, author and looking at the cover. Open the book and read the first page or two. 

2. Put one finger up for each word you do not know.  If two or three fingers go up, you have chosen the just right book.

3. If four or five fingers go up, close the book  and choose another.

4. Open up the book and read the blurb on the back of the book or on the inside of the book cover.
