About Mrs. Thielen

Mrs. Thielen is from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the home of Central Michigan University. Mt. Pleasant is also one of the primary locations used for the National Geographic Wild TV show The Incredible Dr. Pol. Some of Mrs. Thielen's friends and family members have been on this show with their livestock, horses, and dogs. Mrs. Thielen earned her BS in Education at CMU and completed her student teaching in two very different locations: Remus, Michigan and Perth, Western Australia. After student teaching, Mrs. Thielen moved to Arlington, VA and lived there for several years. She now teaches at Lincoln Middle School in Park Ridge, IL.

Mrs. Thielen loves teaching and also enjoys sharing teaching techniques with other teachers. She is an adjunct faculty member at National-Louis University and North Park University. She has also presented at the national conferences for the Association for Middle Level Education and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

In 2016 Mrs. Thielen was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE). She served two terms as Chair of the Board. AMLE is a global teaching organization with over 36,000 members.
