I have been practicing physical therapy for over 25 years. I graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago and have worked in multiple settings. I have experience in Orthopedic, Sports Medicine, Neurology (Spinal Cord injury and head trauma) and Pediatrics. I enjoy working with the students, families and teachers of District 64 to enhance the school experience. In my free time I enjoy reading books, taking pictures and spending time with my family.
Physical Therapy services are offered at all of the schools in District 64. These services are directed, most often, towards students with physical disabilities, developmental delays, visual or hearing impairments, neurological impairments or learning disabilities. School therapists evaluate, assess and develop accommodations to address the functional abilities of students within the classroom, hallways or specials areas. Therapists work with teachers to help students acquire functional abilities necessary to access their educational materials and to move about the school in a safe manner. Therapists may, also, work with students to modify or adapt their classroom materials / equipment so as to attain their greatest level of independence at school. Everything school therapists do within the school setting must be educationally relevant. All students who receive direct services from Physical or Occupational Therapy within District 64 must have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). For those students that do not have an IEP, Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy are able to to offer more generalized suggestions to help a child function to the best of his ability, on a Response to Intervention model.
