Dabke is a traditional Arab folk dance that originated from the Levant, an area in the Middle East made up of countries Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan. The dance is usually performed at weddings, parties, and many other occasions. There are also several different types of dabke that vary by country.
Dabke is not only a big part of our culture, but also a part of Middle Eastern Club! We will practice dabke in order to prepare for International Night at Niles West, and maybe even other occasions throughout the year.
Dance practices are every week after school on Thursday at 4:00 following club meetings in room 1199.
