Cisco
Through a generous equipment grant from the philanthropic arm of Cisco Systems, Inc., the Skokie I-Net realized a vision of providing schools and other public institutions in a similar geographic region with high speed WAN connectivity. The original equipment grant included routers and switches whose value totaled more than $40,000.
Later hardware upgrades were fully funded by the Consortium's own cost recovery strategy, but the initial jump-start from Cisco was invaluable.
RCN
RCN, the local cable provider for the Village of Skokie, has generously provided the fiber backbone that comprises the Skokie I-Net. In addition, RCN's cooperation and support made it possible to overcome the technical and logistical challenges of bringing high-speed data connectivity between schools and to the internet.
