- Make flashcards (written flashcards, make own Quizlet flashcards, vocabulary foldable, etc
- Rewrite notes/vocabulary definitions (say it out loud as you write)
- Write vocabulary words that you are having a hard time remembering 5 times
- Have someone quiz you orally
- Make sure your notes are organized (ie- outline notes or Cornell notes)
- Record yourself saying vocabulary using your iPad or phone
- Use mnemonics (ie: ROY G BIV = Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet)
- Redo homework assignments to improve skills
- Categorize words or notes
- Highlight vocabulary or notes that you are having trouble with - ASK FOR HELP
IT IS KEY TO:
1) Practice & study vocabulary or notes 5-10 minutes a day versus 30 minutes the night before a quiz or test.
2) Whatever method you use, try it several times before you consider it as not working. Only then should you move on to a new method. Try several methods to see what works best for you.
3) See your teacher regarding the method you using to study and to get more suggestions.
