Superintendent Search

Dear District 118 Communities,

A few weeks ago, the Board of Education shared the launch of our search for the next Superintendent of Wauconda Community Unit School District 118 and invited staff, students, families, and community members to share their perspectives.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the interviews, focus groups, community forums, and the online survey. We appreciate the thoughtfulness and time so many people contributed to this process.

With the survey now closed, our search partner, Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), will compile the feedback gathered throughout the engagement process into a Leadership Profile Report. The report will reflect the qualities and characteristics identified as important in our next Superintendent, along with District 118’s strengths, opportunities, and priorities.

What Comes Next

• October 15, 2026: HYA presents the Leadership Profile Report to the Board of Education
• October 30, 2026: Application deadline
• November 5, 2026: Candidate slate presented to the Board
• November 2026: Board interviews and finalist selection
• December 3, 2026: Target for public announcement of the next Superintendent
• July 1, 2027: New Superintendent begins service to District 118

As the search continues, Interim Co-Superintendents Dr. Leden and Dr. Wegley will remain in place through June 30, 2027, providing continuity for our students, staff, schools, and families throughout the transition.

The Board is grateful to everyone who has contributed to this process. Your perspectives are an important part of our work, and we look forward to continuing to keep our District 118 communities informed as the search moves forward.
