Dr. Barman is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), specializing in infrastructure materials and pavement engineering. He currently serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for the Civil Engineering program at UMD. Dr. Barman earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014 and his M.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2004. Prior to joining UMD in 2015, he worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oklahoma. His research focuses on pavement materials, design, maintenance, and rehabilitation. He is actively involved in several professional organizations, including ASCE, TRB, ACI, ISCP, and NRRA. Dr. Barman serves on the TRB Standing Committee on Concrete Pavement Materials (AKN13) and is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Society for Concrete Pavements. He also served as the Director of the Technical Program and Editor for the 13th International Conference on Concrete Pavements held in Minneapolis, USA. In addition to his research and service contributions, Dr. Barman is a committed educator and a regular peer reviewer for multiple scholarly journals in his field.
