Job Searching and Transitioning

Beautiful people, I have reviewed hundreds of resumes for churches as they consider an applicant for their youth ministry position.  As you prepare your resume, here are a couple of things I hope you will keep in mind.  

• • Do not include a picture of yourself.  This is not only a  professional turnoff, in my opinion, but it also, unfortunately, gives people room to judge us before they even read about us.  

  • Keep to one page if possible.  Given your journey thus far, that should not be hard

  • Be concise

  • Do not include high school information

  • I have included sample resumes from alumni/fellows and also one that a professional helped us with. I was the guinea pig and it offers another format to choose from

Please ask someone to review before you submit.  I am happy to offer my two cents and I know your coach or regional director is happy to help as well.  You have worked hard and done great things, make sure your first impression is a solid one and not a resume based on the latest cute fad on Pinterest.
