Canyon Secondary Retake, Redo, Reassessment Agreements - Physical Education
Implementation Year 2024-2025
At Canyon Middle School, we are dedicated to creating and implementing grading practices that support accuracy, motivation, and bias resistance. We are also working to create systems that improve access and preparation for post-high school experiences. For the 2024-2025 school year we will be piloting the following agreements in the PE department. During the 2024-25 school year, we will be analyzing these agreements to determine potential areas of improvement and next steps for the Canyon program.
For the 2024-25 school year all department members will implement the following Retake, Redo, Reassessment practices in all PE classes (at a minimum):
Every student will be afforded the opportunity to retake, redo, reassess State fitness testing assessments.
Students will be able to access reteaching during instructional hours (class time/RtI time) and will demonstrate readiness for the reassessment.
Opportunities to complete retakes, redos, and reassessments of State fitness testing will be provided during instructional hours and every student who qualifies for a retake, redo, reassessment should be strongly encouraged to complete the process.
After completing a fitness testing retake, redo, reassessment, the highest score will be used when entering into the state database.
Individual teachers will determine whether a student is required to complete the entire assessment or portion of the assessment for the retake, redo, reassessment, in order to meet a minimum standard of proficiency.
The retake, redo, reassessment window for will be determined by the window for State fitness testing for the school year.
